Disability Tax Exemption

Disabled Tax Exemption Guidelines (RSA72:37b)

Must have been a resident of New Hampshire for at least 5 years prior to April 1st of the year you are applying. You must be receiving Social Security Disability prior to April 1st of the year you are applying for and you must have an award letter. The property on which the exemption is claimed must be your principal place of abode.

The completed (PA29) form and the award letter must accompany the disability worksheet, along with all income and asset backup.

Exemption Amount

$40,000 off assessed value

Income Requirement (including Social Security)

Single less than $30,000\ Married less than $44,000

Asset Requirement

Less than $70,000 not including your residence

Filing Deadline

The filing deadline is April 15th preceding the setting of the tax rate. Example: If you are applying for an exemption off your 2026 property taxes, you have until April 15, 2026 to file the form.

In order to process your exemption, we will need copies of the following:\ Award letter from Social Security Disability\ Social Security Statements proving eligibility under Title II or Title XVI\ IRS 1040 completed form\ 1099 forms (interest)\ Pension Statements\ Any checking or savings statements
