From the back cover: Take a journey with us through a history of Lyndeborough, New Hampshire, a town with a history as unique as its name. The town of many corners has survived, despite having challenging geography and sometimes impassable roads that separated village and limited industry. Farming and summer vacationers have come and gone, as have its biggest claims to fame – Lyndeborough Glass, Clark Pottery, the Pinnacle House Hotel, and the annual Washington’s Birthday celebrations. The railroad no longer travels through town, the Pinnacle Grange and other groups no longer meet, community picnics are a thing of the past, and the one-room schoolhouses are either long gone or private houses. However, both town halls, the Lafayette Artillery, honoring veterans, an above-average number of cemeteries, and some quirky traditions have endured. Lyndeborough’s public offices, group activities, and purposes have all evolved since the first settlers came to Salem-Canada nearly three hundred years ago. Through ups and downs over the decades, this “Town of Friendly Neighbors” and its people have retained their sense of community.

NEWS RELEASE

NH DMV EXPANDS APPOINTMENT-BASED SYSTEM

CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) announces it will be increasing access to services by transitioning to a fully appointment-based system beginning Monday, November 3, 2025.

“This change is designed to reduce waiting times in DMV lobbies and provide a more efficient, personalized experience for all customers,” said DMV Director John C. Marasco. “By scheduling appointments in advance, the DMV can manage customer flow more effectively, ensuring that each visit is timely and well-organized.”

The DMV conducts over 425,000 in-person transactions at 14 locations around the state each year. Starting November 3, additional appointments will be available to accommodate customer volume. The busiest DMV locations in Concord, Manchester, Nashua, and Epping will also offer appointments during extended hours until 5 p.m., twice a week. Additionally, a limited block of same-day appointments will be made available each day for customers with urgent transactions.
Customers can find appointment availability on the DMV website, where they can select “Make an Appointment” on the homepage. DMV staff will assist walk-in customers with finding appointments, including at other DMV locations if necessary.

Good Morning Lyndeborough

Program for people who live alone

Did you know that the Lyndeborough Police have a program for the elderly and disabled citizens of the community? It is designed to be a life-saving program and has proven to be just that. These programs came into existence because of incidents involving elderly citizens that lived alone, had fallen or become ill in their homes, and were unable to call for help. In some cases, the person would not be discovered for a day or more.

The “Good Morning” Program works this way- a person wishing to be a participant would be required to provide their contact information, along with an alternative contact person that the dispatcher may call in case of an emergency. The participant may leave a key with the police department, a relative or friend, in case entry into the home is needed for any reason. The participant then calls the Police Department Communications Center every day by 10:00 AM to let the dispatcher know everything is all right. If no call is received by 10:00 AM, the dispatcher will call the participant. If the dispatcher is unable to contact the participant, a police officer is dispatched to the residence to check on the person’s welfare. In most cases there is no problem, the participant forgot to call. However, occasionally the person may need some type of assistance. If they do, the officer will either provide the assistance or call for the type of assistance needed (i.e. ambulance, family member, etc.).

This program has saved lives and also gives the chance for someone to say “Good Morning” and brighten their day. Please contact the Lyndeborough Police at 603-654-6535 if you or a loved one live in Lyndeborough and would like to sign up for the Good Morning Program. The application can be found on the Documents page or directly through this link.

On 11/20/25 we received information from a local business letting the Town know that they had received an “Invoice” for $4,800.00 from the “Town of Lyndeborough Planning Commission” payable by a wire transfer. The “invoice” had blurry, pixelated copies of the Town’s seal on it.

Lyndeborough has a Planning BOARD, not a Planning Commission, and they do not send out invoices (especially ones with blurry scans of the Town’s seal). The Town also doesn’t accept wire transfers. There were several other issues with the “Invoice” and fortunately the local business called to ask about it before they lost a lot of money.

We encourage any of our residents who may receive an unexpected bill from the “Planning Commission” to either email the Land Use Assistant or call the Town Offices at 603-654-5955 to verify it isn’t a scam before sending any money. Please DO NOT send any wire transfers. The Town accepts payment by check, either in person or through the mail, as well as cash or credit card in person. There are fees for Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment cases, but they are made clear during the application process.

If you have an upcoming birthday and have not yet received your vehicle registration renewal letter, please check the email address you provided to us. If you gave us an email address as part of our new software upgrade in 2024, reminder letters were sent through email. Unfortunately, our system is an either/or type, so you can get reminders through email or USPS, but not both.

If you did not give us your email address, please let us know and we can get another copy of your renewal letter for you.

If you did provide us with your email address and would like to go back to receiving them through USPS, please let us know.

Renewal reminder notices are generally sent out the middle of the month before your birth month (around April 15th for a May birthday, etc.).

Vehicle Registrations

Registration rates going up on January 1st!

The rates reflected in the January renewal notices are only valid until 12/31/2025.

Due to the passing of NH House Bill 2, registration fees will increase on 1/1/2026. To avoid paying a different & higher rate, your renewal request for January 2026 MUST be received at the Town Clerk’s Office no later than 3 pm on Thursday 12/31/2025.

At this time, we do not have the ability to let you know exactly how much individual registrations will increase on January 1st, so if you want to be guaranteed to pay the 2025 fees, you should register the vehicles online or bring payment and renewal notice to the Town Clerk’s Office by 3 pm on 12/31. We cannot guarantee that something you mail will reach us in time (especially since it is a busy time of year for the USPS) and if it does not get delivered to us by 3 pm on 12/31, we will not be able to process your registration until we receive the new fees.

Thank you.

Some of you may remember the stickers that were given out at voting the last couple of years. Those were designed by NH kids in a contest by the Secretary of State’s office. If you have, or know of, an artistic kid in 4th or 5th grade, then they are eligible to enter this year’s contest. Click here for more information.
Welcome to our new site!

We have a newly designed site for you all to use.

We hope that you find this new site easier to use and more informative than our old one. If you see anything you would like to add or change, please contact Jen Weston. We are especially looking for photos from any era of the Town and residents.

A few helpful hints for this site:

All documents are now stored on a “Documents” page, instead of being available from a particular Board or Department’s page. We have tried to make it as user friendly as possible, but any suggestions to improve that are welcome. If the link next to the document says “Open” then it is a link to another website and if it says “Download” then it is a document that is available directly from our website.

The Town of Lyndeborough now has a Google calendar that is available from the Home (splash, teaser, or whatever you may wish to call it) page. Agendas and relevant documents (once they become available) for meetings are linked directly to the calendar event. They are also available on the Documents page as a link (click “Agendas” from the Documents page and then choose the Board or Committee whose agenda you want to see). Minutes, when they become available, will also be linked to the event in the calendar, as well as through the “Meeting Minutes” section of the Documents page.

The old site had a “Departments” section and a “Boards & Committees” section, but the new site has them all under one “Boards, Committees & Departments” page, in alphabetical order. Some of those have enough content that they also have a link to a separate page dedicated to them. If you are part of a Town Board, Committee, or Department and would like to have a separate page for content about that entity, please let us know and we will try to work with you to make that happen (if it’s possible).

“News” is still included on the home page, but we hope you find it easier to find items. The old site had a random order for News items, but this one puts them in chronological order based on the date we assign to it. If it is something that needs to stay on the home page for a while, we can use a future date to keep it in the top spot. For the most part, we will assign it the date that it happened (or will happen).

Thank you & we hope you find something useful here!
