Access to both the Upper and Lower Purgatory Falls will be closed effective Thursday April 30, 2020 at 12 pm, due to the Covid-19 crisis.

At their duly posted Wednesday night special meeting, the Board of Selectmen voted to close access to both the Upper and Lower Purgatory Falls effective Thursday, April 30, 2020, at 12 pm due to the Covid-19 crisis. Access will remain closed until further notice. We will update this web notification when it reopens.

Violators of this directive will be guilty of criminal trespass in accordance with NH State statutes.  Additionally, parking a vehicle in a no parking zone shall result in fines and towing of the vehicle in question at the owner’s expense.

This decision was not made hastily or lightly, however the health and safely of all individuals must be our highest priority. We look forward to reopening the treasured spot as soon as it is possible to do so without compromising anyone's well-being.
